"Type Geek Space Craft"
April brings us another great topic with renown Atlanta designer, consultant and author of the Typographic Desk Reference, Theodore Rosendorf.
Typography is a fascinating topic, especially as it relates to the Web. Many people easily overlook the importance of typeface selection, kerning, leading, line-height, and many other factors that can play a huge role in the success of a design. Type can evoke emotion, define context, and have a profound impact on the message of the text it creates.
Theodore will give a us a behind the scenes look at the making of his book, and take a micro/macro view and explain how a design comes together through a structured series of size and spacial adjustments. It will be a great talk.
His career began working freelance with a set of pencils and a drawing pad. His first project was a hand drawn logo for the Downwind restaurant at Atlanta’s PDK Airport. Leaving the airport, his career has taken him to clients in the US and abroad as a design consultant for some of the world's most well known brands such as: AT&T, CNN.com, The Coca-Cola Company, Ford Motor Company, IBM, Mercedes AMG, Nintendo, Turner Broadcasting, and many others. You can check out his personal website at http://rosendorf.us/...

Design Feedback and Open Q&A!
Because of your feedback and some great discussions we've decided to add something new to the Meetups. After our speaker we will have a short time for anyone in the group to get feedback on a project they are working on. Whether it's a design comp, programming question, business plan, user interface decision, or any other web design question – just ask the group and we will do our best to help.
If you have a question for the group, please make sure your project is either online or on a USB drive so we can pull it up on the screen for everyone to see. You can also ]send it to me in advance so I can have it ready to go.
We're looking forward to a great turnout, and a great event so RSVP Now to reserve your seat.
About the Venue
The Portfolio Center is a hip little art and media school in Buckhead with a nice creative environment, free WiFi, and plenty of free parking. To get there, take Peachtree to Bennett street (the street sign says Peachtree Park) and turn west onto Bennett street (it looks like turning into the parking lot for the Italian restaurant).
The Portfolio Center is all the way at the end of the street (just keep going). You will pass all the antique dealers and look for the Portfolio Center on the right side. Once you are inside look for the door on the left and come on in!
See you there!
- J.
