This is must see session with one of the most talented and respected designers in the business. Dan Rubin will speak about design and the art of freelancing.
Dan has been a freelance Web designer for many years - check out his personal portal site.
What to expect Dan will talk about the elements of successful design using standards complaint best practices and share some cool tips and tricks. He will also discuss how to manage being a freelancer. From the business side of things like estimating time and costs, to invoicing and scheduling, he will give you some great info you can apply to your daily work.
This will easily be one of the best AWDG Meetups yet, don't miss out!
Just a quick note about how to find the Portfolio Center. Take Peachtree to Bennett street (the street sign says Peachtree Park) and turn west onto Bennett street (it looks like turning into a parking lot).
The Portfolio Center is all the way at the end of the street (just keep going). You will pass all the antique dealers and look for the Portfolio Center on the right side. Once you are inside look for the door on the left and come on in!

“ This was my first time at this group meet-up. I've heard about it through word of mouth and reading about the last events and guest speakers.
The speaker, organizer and attendees had great energy. They stayed on topic and provided me with more insight on pursuing my freelance business goals. Excellent! I will be back for the next event. ”
“ Rock on with the awesome sponsors and speakers.
Any meetup I walk away from...wondering what the heck I've been doing with my professional career...wondering what the heck it all means to me as a designer/developer/DB architect/dog owner/alcoholic/coffee snob...is a good one. ”
“ Mr. Rubin was very approachable, knowledgeable on the subject matter and entertaining as a speaker. I came away with much useful information and some ideas to use on my own. ”
“ Very informative. I am more an app developer but found his insights on design can easily translate across to code.
It was a lot of fun and I intend to come along to more. Thanks for organising the event. ”
“ By far, the best meetup that I have attended so far. The insights shared from Dan Rubin were well worth the effort to attend. Even if you thought you knew anything about this business, he inspired to me go back and re-think some of the ways I conduct business and design. Thanks J for the opportunity to attend! Looking forward to the next two meetups. ”
