The key to designing beautiful, effective websites is learning to think like a designer.

The mysterious and seemingly instinctual ability designers have of inventing creative, unique, and visually pleasing designs is often built upon a solid foundation of practical design theory. In this talk, Jason will share a few fundamental design concepts and walk through real-world examples, explaining what works and what doesn't. While the content is geared toward developers, designers of all levels will benefit from Jason's straightforward techniques and learn to communicate their design decisions to clients and coworkers

About Jason
Jason Beaird is the author of The Principles of Beautiful Web Design and has always had a knack for explaining design to non-designers. As a front-end developer at Cyberwoven, he also enjoys the technical side of the web, and uses his visual expertise to translate comps to code. When he's not working, he enjoys sharing his passion for the web through Refresh Columbia and his personal website, jasongraphix.com.

After the presentation we will take some time for anyone in the group to get feedback on a project they are working on. Whether it's a design comp, programming question, business plan, user interface decision, or any other web design question – just ask the group and we will do our best to help.
