This month our speaker is the entertaining, talented, and sometimes controversial Jeff Croft. He is a web designer and developer who created his first web site in 1994 and has been working full-time in the web industry since 1995.

Grids, CSS, Standards and Tomfoolery
Jeff's talk will focus on the use of the grid in web design. We'll talk a bit about the history of layout grids and why they're so important to design in general, and then take a look at the different types of grids and discuss how well each apply to the web. We'll study several great examples of grid use on the web, and look at the interplay between layout grids and typographic grids. We'll talk a bit about CSS frameworks and other tools that can make grid design on the web easier and more efficient.

Plus, we'll discuss the state of web standards and what it means to you. How do the never-ending browser wars, evolving standards for XHTML, CSS, Javascript, and the debate over it all apply to your daily work? Jeff will share his opinions and experiences, and discuss the impact on our community as a whole.

Don't miss it, there are only 75 seats available. RSVP Now

More About Jeff
Jeff is employed full-time by Blue Flavor, a design agency specializing in standards-based design and development for the web and mobile web. In addition to his work as a designer, he has authored two books: Pro CSS Techniques, and Web Standards Creativity. He has also spoken on topics ranging from back-end development to web typography to designer's workflow at industry conferences including South By Southwest, Webmaster Jam Session, and Future of Web Design.

Design Feedback and Open Q&A
After the presentation we will take some time for anyone in the group to get feedback on a project they are working on. Whether it's a design comp, programming question, business plan, user interface decision, or any other web design question – just ask the group and we will do our best to help.

We're looking forward to a great turnout, and a great event so RSVP now to reserve your seat.

Wouldn't it be more appropriate to go somewhere with karaoke afterward, instead of Fado? ;)
