"If you build it, they will come." – Right? Wrong. Teddy Roosevelt was talking about the Panama Canal when he said that – not your website.

Brandon Eley will talk about how to incorporate good marketing into your design process and give you ways to think about things from a different angle to make your websites more effective.

Great web design is about more than a pleasing color scheme and elegant use of white space. Great web design is about getting visitors to take a desired action, whether that's placing an order, clicking an ad, or downloading a software product.

Learn how to use proven marketing principles in web design to increase your conversions and your ROI. I'll discuss how to improve usability, website navigation, calls to action, home page layout, error pages, headlines, and more.

Whether you're a front-end designer, website owner or marketing professional, you'll leave with practical advice that you can put to work in your websites immediately.

Design Feedback and Open Q&A
After the presentation we will take some time for anyone in the group to get feedback on a project they are working on. Whether it's a design comp, programming question, business plan, user interface decision, or any other web design question – just ask the group and we will do our best to help.

We're looking forward to a great turnout, and a great event so RSVP now to reserve your seat.

This is an excellent group. Brandon Elys advice, tips and presentaion were great. I'm also glad that we will be doing more networking events in the future. This will give more time to meet and mingle with other members outside of guest and presentation times.

    •  The AWDG Meetups just keep getting better. I didn't think this topic would be relevant as a lone freelancer, but I was wrong. Very valuable information. If you weren't able to attend, do pick up Brandon's book. I'm only a few pages in but I think it's the ticket if you want a straightforward, effective overview of things you can/should do to market yourself or your clients online.
    •  Brandon well articulated and presents the topic from an insider's perspective which is valuable and to the point.
    •  Very clear and useful presentation. I learned a half dozen important concepts. And his critique of my website was super helpful as we are currently doing a major revision.

I thought the meetup was great! Brandon was a great speaker and his presentation was both informative and interactive.

Brandon talked about simple, actionable things we can do to improve our Websites today.
    •  Brandon did a great job running through the do's and don'ts of online design. Especially thinking about what action items you want the visitor to take and how that would best be presented.
    •  Great session! Speaker presented very good information with intuitive slides and real world examples. Great audience participation. Good location with refreshments available which made this a very comfortable event. Looking forward to the next meet!
    •  Well, i am sure it was great, but I did not leave the office until 8:45, so I guess I would not know :(
    •  I really enjoyed the talk as well as the overall conversation with the people sitting next to me, neither of which I had met previously. In addition, I thought the comments on my site critique by both Brandon and the attending members was all very helpful. All in all, I thought it was great.
